Pediatric ENT

Pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat diseases are common and include repeated infections of the tonsils, snoring, and middle ear infections and fluid accumulation. Most of the above conditions can be treated conservatively without surgical intervention. However, surgery is sometimes recommended if the chances of long-term complications are high.

   Facts about pediatric ENT diseases:

  • Approximately 20% of young school children have accumulation of fluid in their middle ears (behind the ear drum). However, the majority of middle ear fluid resolves on its own without intervention.

  • Eardrum tube surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgeries world wide. In the United States more than 670,000 tympanostomy tubes are inserted in young children each year.

  • There are different techniques and technologies used for removing the tonsils and adenoids, all of which are effective and safe.
